The Chilton County Airport Authority is a public body whose members are appointed by the Chilton County Commission and the Clanton City Council with the purpose and powers as outlined in the Code of Alabama in regard to the management and operation of the Chilton County Airport.
The Chilton County Airport Authority consists of seven members appointed to terms of six years. The Chilton County Commission appoints four members of the Authority; the City of Clanton appoints two members and the Chair of the Chilton County Commission is automatically appointed to serve concurrent with his or her tenure as Chair.
Meetings of the Chilton County Airport Authority are held quarterly on the third Thursday of March, June, September and December. Meetings are scheduled to be held in the Administration Building Conference Room beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The members of the Chilton County Airport Authority do not receive compensation or other benefits while serving in this capacity.
To operate and maintain the Chilton County Airport in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, requirements of the Alabama Department of Transportation Aeronautics Bureau and operating rules and procedures established to promote a safe operating environment for all users of the facility; to make continuing infrastructure improvements in accordance with the Chilton County Airport Layout Plan to develop an aviation facility that provides critical aviation services to the citizens of Chilton County and serves as an essential component of economic development efforts within the region; and to help create an environment conductive to the development and expansion of business and industry in Chilton County.
